Welcome to Powell Elementary School!

Washington D.C. business developer and marketer, Rikki Rogers, once said “Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once though you couldn’t!” As the 2016/2017 school year gets underway, our students will have countless opportunities to show you, their teachers, and me what they do know. The staff of Powell is committed to challenging all learners to stretch beyond their perceived limits and expand their knowledge beyond what they imagined was possible.

Powell has a first-rate staff of dedicated teachers and support professionals who are lifelong learners themselves. We are committed to providing a world-class education in a small town community atmosphere. No longer is it just about reading, writing, and arithmetic. Today, we are weaving technology-rich instruction and hands-on learning with a rigorous curriculum to make sure that our students are well prepared for life in an ever-changing world. We have outstanding students at Powell and a staff who is here to help our students soar to new heights.

Even though I am the new elementary principal, it is obvious that North Baltimore schools have a tradition of academic excellence, unyielding school pride, and wide community support. I am pleased to be part of the North Baltimore team and look forward to empowering the teachers and support staff as they continue to provide our children with safe travels to and from school, a clean, safe, and secure building, nutritious meals, artistic opportunities, extracurricular activities, and a solid academic education.

Our school is full of Tiger pride! We are here each and every day to help our students reach their goals and go beyond. We want to show them that they can do what they thought they couldn’t. If you would like to share your ideas on how we can continue to enhance the learning opportunities at Powell Elementary, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Yours in education,
Mark Lange
Principal
